At any rate, everything appears to be working fine, whether or not the guest VM is configured as 32-bit or 64-bit.Īfter purging either the official ISO or the Ubuntu repository Guest Additions, via My Ubuntu installation is 32-bit, but I have variably switched between 32-bit and 64-bit Clonezilla live usbs and 32-bit/64-bit VM guest configurations, because the migration was a multi-day PITA. It went fine but didn't solve my problem.
After a few hours of failing to get Guest Additions working, I tried reinstalling the X server. I uninstalled the AMD Binary drivers and that fixed the issue. After migrating to the VMDK, the login screen loaded but wouldn't boot to desktop. The server still has its own disk only the VMDK file(s) are on that disk (I plan to try to use raw disk access, once I get guest additions working). This is a migration from a dual-boot system where the server had its own disk to a virtualized server running on Windows 7 圆4.
